Dimitri Payet put in one of his best performances since moving back to Marseille on Thursday night, and it’s fair to say West Ham fans are missing the fabulous Frenchman.
There’s certainly not much love for Dimitri Payet amongst West Ham fans now, but that doesn’t mean they can’t appreciate and miss his creative excellence.
The 31 year-old was at his brilliant best in Marseille’s incredible 5-2 Europa League win over Red Bull Leipzig, grabbing an assist before effectively winning the tie with an unbelievable solo goal.
The Frenchman had already had one screamer disallowed in the match, as a foul by Konstantinos Mitroglou ruled out his incredible long-range effort.

The goal that stood was even better though, as the former Hammer weaved through several defenders before smashing the ball into the roof of the net with the outside of his boot.
West Ham fans won’t forgive Payet for forcing his move back to France in the manner he did, but his moments of sheer brilliance in a Hammers’ shirt won’t be forgotten either, and fans have been discussing his incredible performance on Twitter.
