Yamal suffered an ankle problem last month during Barcelona's clash against Red Star Belgrade and missed almost three weeks of action before returning during Hansi Flick's side's 2-1 loss against Las Palmas. The 17-year-old was slowly but surely returning to his usual form but has suffered yet another injury to the same ankle against Leganes at Estadi Olimpic, and is set for another stint on the sidelines.

The Golden Boy 2024 winner received a strong tackle in the 16th minute and twisted his already suspect ankle. However, Yamal was able to continue on and stayed on the field until he was unable to continue in the 75th minute. Barcelona have now confirmed he is facing at least three weeks out, bringing his year to an abrupt end.
GettyDID YOU KNOW?
Barcelona announced on December 16 that the Spaniard has a grade 1 injury to a ligament in the ankle, which is not the same as his earlier injury, and his 2024 is now officially over as Hansi Flick will likely now only have the teenager back in the middle of January.
WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?
Luckily for Barcelona, they only have one more game until the end of the calendar year, against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, December 21. Yamal will also be absent for Barcelona's clash against UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey. However, he could miss the entirety of Barcelona's Spanish Super Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia in the New Year.
