Having joined Wolves’ academy back in 2010, Dominic Iorfa has always seemed to be on the fringes of making a really big impression for himself. The 24-year-old has endured a rather stop-start career, playing 93 games for Wolves, 25 games for Ipswich, and now 36 times for Sheffield Wednesday.

But this season has really seen him kick on in an Owls shirt. He has nailed down a position at centre-back for Garry Monk’s side, playing there on 21 occasions out of his total of 24 appearances according to Transfermarkt. And he was once again deployed at the heart of defence against Brighton in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, helping his side to a 1-o victory.
After seeing his performance, Wednesday supporters took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the 24-year-old.
A couple of fans simply highlighted how resolute and solid he is at centre-back, with one supporter even comparing him to a brick wall.
Another couple of supporters talked up Iorfa’s bright future in the game, suggesting that they could see him playing at a higher level than the Championship, and that he could move for big money either now or in the summer.
Having established himself as a leading centre-back at Wednesday, Iorfa continues to impress at the heart of defence for the Owls. As per Whoscored, his average match rating of 6.93 places him seventh amongst his teammates, and helping to keep things at the back will no doubt be a major reason as to whether the Owls can earn promotion to the top-flight this season.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday’s chances of success this season could hinge upon doing this in January.
